    View Finder for my PowerShot G3X

    Just bought a new G3X camera to replace my entire Canon DSLR outfit. I’m very happy with my decision, the only thing that this camera should come with is the electronic view finder, but it doesn’t. This is a critical component for bright outdoor shots, and specialty shots. I found the clarity of the image to be excellent, and it is a simple plug and play device with ocular adjustments, and it senses the proximity of your eye and shifts between it and the Camera back screen. We plan to use this extensively on our upcoming Antarctica trip where we hope to have many extremely bright days. Well worth the investment (note: retail pricing was too high, eBay was a much better price point)

    Better than no view finder at all

    It's tiny, pixelated, and slow if you pan with it. Really the only thing I can think it would have a use for is on those sunny days when you can't see the back of the camera. It's a good idea but the technology used for this is old and not really up to the task of providing you anything more than a tiny and rudimentary image. I got mine for a good price and still regret buying it. Live and learn.

    Should come with the M3

    A viewfinder is an essential part of a camera. The EVF should be included in a kit. I've never used an EVF before mt current camera. It displays more digital information than a regular VF which is nice. There is a slight lag time when moving the camera's view though.

    My eye saver

    I love my M3 but whenever I have to compose and frame outside in our bright Texas sunshine, I strain myself to see clearly. Time to attach the EVF and compose in the viewer. For an old time Leica rangefinder user this is something I am used to, and I find it more natural. The image I see in the finder is very clear and acceptable, and I have no problems while using eyeglasses.

    EVF

    We have yet to be clear whether the rear screen concept will cause the demise of the integral viewfinder. However, I am confident that the electronic viewfinder has really become established. It is also yet to be determined whether integration of the viewfinder will become less commonplace. This product enables the best of both worlds in the meantime.
