Synopsis
#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER At twenty-two, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life. With no experience or training, driven only by blind will, she would hike more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State--and she would do it alone. Told with suspense and style, sparkling with warmth and humor, Wild powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddened, strengthened, and ultimately healed her. One of the Best Books of the Year: NPR, The Boston Globe , Entertainment Weekly, Vogue, St. Louis Dispatch, #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER * A powerful, blazingly honest memoir: the story of an eleven-hundred-mile solo hike that broke down a young woman reeling from catastrophe--and built her back up again. I love thrift books- love Wild!

I love buying from thrift books. They have tons of books to offer in great used conditions and they’re cheap!!!! So when I spill coffee on the book I borrowed from my friend I can easily replace it! I have purchased books from here a few times now and will again. Wild is an amazing book about a Woman trying to find her way and find her independent. Went through a similar experience in my life and it was great to relate to the author in her story. One of my favorite books

    Dirty

I wanted to give it to my teenage daughter for a gift to encourage her to search inside herself and to be athletic and adventurous, I'm sure glad I proofread it first. it's a dirty book shes a dirty woman. The dirty words were a big turnoff. . I read about 10 pages and threw it away. I hope she grew up and found a little class by the end of her journey. I was very disappointed. I will compromise a little for a good book, to learn from, but shes a dirty lady who needs God desperately in her life.

  • A great time to return to nature

The book was a great endorsement of John Muir's vision, a place to find oneself again. The journey narrated by the author was simply spectacular at many different level. Good read, even if you have no plans to hike the PCT.

  • Strength of the will.

Aside from the rather graphic obsession with sexual exploits, and the too-frequent f-words, the book was very well written. Loved how she worked through her grief, and her dogged determination to accomplish this goal.

  • A very absorbing book, especially if you have some hiking experiences.

I bought about 10 copies of this book some years ago, gave all of them to my friends as Christmas gifts. Now I bought another copy for my writing of a hiking article.
