    One of the Great Films of the mid-20th Century

    Who doesn't know the famous Colonel Bogey March--and can whistle it? While that song was already well known to most Brits at the time of the film's release, it attained top of the charts status when it was used in this film to show the British determination to remain dignified and united despite being forced into a Japanese labor camp during WWII and forced to build a bridge for what later became known as the Burma Railroad. The interplay between famed actor Alex Guinness as the British commanding officer and Japanese actor Sessue Hayakawa as the Japanese no-nonsense camp commandant is the stuff made of legend. Toss in William Holden as a renegade prisoner and Jack Hawkins as the Major in command of the special ops team charged with stopping the whole project before its completion, and you ...

    Hasn't lost a thing...only made it better

    I found the movie to be exceptionally well done, and the print and sound quality very well done. The photography is superb as is the acting. When one sees actors like Hiyakowa, Alec Business, and William Holden working their craft, it's difficult to think of a whole lot of actors of the last decade or so that would compare. My opinion anyway
