This is a great classic zombie movie that I've seen over a dozen times since I first saw it at a drive in theater back in 1975. I've seen it at various midnight movie theater showings over the years and finally bought the Bluray when it was first released. I recently got this on 4K UHD from Criterion Collection and the resolution and clarity was amazing compared to the regular 2K Bluray version and to other 4K UHD discs of other movies. This is like watching it in the theaters. Criterion has always made great 2K Blurays, but, this 4K UHD is the best because of Criterion's great reputation for remastering old movies like this one to crystal clarity.
My other all time favorite zombie movie is Dawn of the Dead and is available on 4K UHD from other sources. I'm waiting for Criterion to release it on 4K UHD because the resolution of the other release is nowhere near as good, compared to this Criterion, Night of the Living Dead 4K UHD disc.
For those that haven't seen Night of the Living Dead, it is not the first zombie movie ever made, but, it is the quintessential best, original, zombie movie. The movie is full of suspense from the beginning all the way through to the ending.
A couple of siblings drive to a rural cemetery to place a wreath on their mother's grave. They are attacked by a zombie and the sister barely escapes and makes her way to an abandoned farmhouse for refuge. The phone is dead and soon there are more and more zombies arriving at the farmhouse. Several other people show up and they are all trapped inside the house that is surrounded by large group of zombies trying to get inside. The suspense and tension is thick throughout the entire movie all the way to the ending.
