The package just arrived this afternoon and I will see about retrieving my old DVD player to watch it all all over again this weekend.     The Red Baron or Flying Away With History

    If the viewer is interested in an accurate historical portrayal of the life and career of Manfred von Richtofen, then they will be completely disappointed in this film. In spite of some very good acting, it is pure fiction. There is so much wrong with the film that it is fruitless to attempt to itemize its inaccuracies. On the other hand, the flying sequences, which do make up a very good proportion of the film are absolutely breathtaking, the finest I have ever seen. To turn this film into a love story was a grave mistake and does its subject a great injustice. See it, by all means, however, for the flying sequences.

    IMHO this did the Red Baron justice!

    If you like historical movies this one was great... the actors fit their parts and the script was very good, pretty historically accurate, great story line, wardrobe and scenery well put together, well worth a watch!

    The Red Baron, the fascinating story of a German War Hero

    This movie is a stunner for the close up action in the air, you feel you are sitting in a Stuka, etc. the photography is amazing. I am English, like the Germans, and survived the war, the bombing in Manchester. Nevertheless, this movie is like Das Boot for me, another film, showing the sufferimg and reactions of "the other side." We sometimes forget that when we speak of victory. There are no victors in war. This incredible German ace died in a bombing raid. I had mixed feelings of course, but I grieved for another death in a war.
