Can't believe I've waited 50 years to discover Judee Sill. Achingly beautiful songs and nothing quite like anything I've ever heard. What a tragic life she had but the music will influence others for years to come.
Judee was an American singer songwriter who made two albums for Asylum records in the early 1970's. When she died by the end of the decade she was almost forgotten. Heard Jonnie Walker play a track from her last year and decided to look into her work.
This double album contains both Asylum albums plus some bonus tracks together with a comprehensive booklet with her history. The music is quite complex lyrically and instrumentally, but repays repeat listening. I would highly recommend this album.
