Synopsis
Twentieth-anniversary edition of a baseball classic, with a new epilogue by Jim Bouton. When first published in 1970, Ball Four stunned the sports world. The commissioner, executives, and players were shocked. Sportswriters called author Jim Bouton a traitor and ""social leper."" Baseball commissioner Bowie Kuhn tried to force him to declare the book untrue. Fans, however, loved the book. And serious critics called it an important social document. Today, Jim Bouton is still not invited to Oldtimer's Days at Yankee Stadium. Great seller. I asked three different sellers the same question about this CD. One did not respond. One said they didn't have time to answer. Valleys_Books_andMore were the only ones to not only answer, but took the time to send a couple pics as well. I purchased immediately after hearing from them. It was a smooth transaction and the CD was in better condition than advertised. Thanks guys!!

I have been humming the most prominent tune in this series, Ashokan Farewell," for days now and it finally prompted me to order the DVDs. The package just arrived this afternoon and I will see about retrieving my old DVD player to watch it all all over again this weekend. The description said it was in "good" shape, but it hardly looks used to my untrained eye. Great price ($10). Well packaged for the journey and delivered on time. Thanks!

A realistic, humorous look at the game of baseball in the 70's.

It was so good to read this again! I read it when I was in High School and a huge baseball nut. Was actually surprised to find out baseball players are humans, with faults, issues and a lot of humor. Jim Bouton's writing style is fabulous and reads very easily. It is dated now, the names are long gone, a modern fan may have trouble with it, but for old-timer me, it is very nostalgic.

  • Revealing

It was okay at first, but, like the baseball season for a non-contending team, it became redundant and long at the end. I imagine it was revolutionary in its day.
