MDR-ZX700 Headphones just don't seem to hit the volume I'm looking for in listening to music & movie streaming. Also, not as comfortable long term as MDR-1A. However, this model is Awesome for traveling w/ a walkman or discman! A GREAT value for over-the-ear headphones, just a cut over any of the competition! FYI the MDR-1A lasts > MDR-V700

    A Bargain

    The Sony MDR-ZX700 were originally made to sell for well over $100.00. Production quality and fit and finish are very good, with a heavy dependency on decent-quality plastics to keep the weight down. They are comfortable, although the earpads are not very thick. It doesn't appear the pads can be removed and replaced with thicker ones, but they are not terrible at all. They just could have been better. The cord cannot be unattached from the 'phones, which would have been nice, but the cord quality is very good...quite supple and not wiry or kinky...and the strain relief and connector are good, as well. The sound is detailed and articulate, and it is even throughout the spectrum. Some people will be disappointed at the lack of booming bass but these cans were intended for studio use so they ...
