Iam of course referring to the Lindisfarne Christmas shows that are sadly no more, and very much missed by all that attended them in the late 70's and 80's. Alan Hull also sadly no longer with us wrote songs with such power and emotion but with that unmistakable Geordie wit (We can swing together we can have wee wee). I never seen Alan as a solo artist so to listen to the second CD in this set from a Radio Clyde session he did in the 70's, his emotion's and passion for these songs comes across and leaves you wanting more. Also listen to 'Back To Basics' where Alan gives you rendition's of all the well known and lesser known material an airing. Great set of disc's capturing these fantastic events.
Two disc CD featuring a live concert by the band in 1982 and a concert by Alan Hull in 1976. The live Lindisfarne show features most of the tracks from the album Sleepless Nights, one of the better ones in my opinion, as well as the classics from earlier years, such as Meet Me on the Corner, Lady Eleanor and Fog on the Tyne. The band are on top form and this is a great show, and one I'd recommend adding to your collection, but probably better if you have the last two albums that they recorded (Back and Fourth and Sleepless Nights). The second disc features 7 tracks by Alan Hull, following the release of his second album Squire. Also on there is my favourite Hully track Money Game, and an early performance of Angels at Eleven, which would feature on the Lindy album Back and Fourth two years later. All in all, a great double CD that is well worth a few of your pounds. Great little booklet as well with some interesting sleeve notes.Read full review
Having been a fan of Lindisfarne from the very beginning I bought this double cd to add to my ever growing collection. An excellent album recorded live at the Glasgow Apollo in December 1982. The second cd being the Alan Hull radio session that was recorded for Radio Clyde. If you are a Lindisfarne fan like me treat yourself to a copy.
