Great paint job and accurate scale. Even comes with a very nice base-stand for mounting the ship. Only gripes are the price (average $35-$40) and being snap-together, seam lines will be evident unless a re-paint and re-decal is in your plan. Also, some pieces, like the saucer section, don't snap together very well and require super-glue to stay in place. Love the transparent red/green light points that fit easily in the saucer section and the simulated engine covers. To be fair, producing painted, scaled and snap-together products is difficult, expensive and (IMHO) only Japanese-based companies have been able to do this with near-perfection. Otherwise, looking forward to getting the 1/1000 scale Klingon D-7 from the same series as well.

I purchased this because I thought it would fit the glow in the dark Michael Forrest autographed hand and I was right. If anything, this kit is still a tad too large but it looks good. As to the kit and assembly.... what a nightmare. The instructions are simple pictograph, wordless travesties. If you’re not paying close attention to what the drawings “hint” at, you’ll find yourself having to disassemble/reassemble several times. In my case, it was worse because I chose to cement certain assemblages. The red/green beacon lights and lower dome piece need to be installed inside the primary hull before the two halves are assembled. Let me just say that I chose to not have a beer while building this kit.... good thing. The impulse engine should be installed prior to that assemblage as well but, I found the fit so poor (huge gap) that I trimmed out the slab that the impulse engine has a female match to and cemented it in after assembling the hull parts. The engine nacelles started out okay. The bussard portions went together easy enough and the nacelles didn’t give enough worry to bother cementing. The rear “exhaust” ports (I know, that’s not what they’re called - sorry, my Enterprise schematics and parts list are in my other pants) were irreconcilable as having been manufactured/planned/nefariously loused up by any sane being. The white bulbs shot out of my hands so many times while trying to figure out which way they, along with the rear nacelle parts, finally all came together, that I “lost” them. Swear I don’t know where they went. But they are gone. Anyhow, the “rail” pieces that attach to the outer nacelle hulls didn’t fit right. They needed careful trimming (other reviewers have warned how easily they break - not really but the frustration factor I could see might add to “over-gripping” a piece into non-existence for a moment of satisfaction at vanquishing one’s foe - trust me, you’ll get there. So, it’s together - minus a couple of engine parts. That’s the wall side of the ship.... All in all, a disappointment. One thing Polar Lights really got wrong was THIS IS NOT FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF...THIS IS NOT FOR ANYONE! Anyhow, the glowing green hand fits, its a gift so I don’t have to look at it now, I suppose the tilting stand was a mistake because the weight of the hand will have the Enterprise in perpetual crashing into the planet mode. I’m getting a beer...Read full review

It may say that the model doesn't require glue and is easy to build, but in my opinion, it should read may require glue, especially for the saucer section and the engines. I would not recommend this model be givin to a child to play with, even if you build it with glue.

Incredibly hard to snap together. Small pieces got broken trying to assemble the model. Gave up and sent it back. DO NOT BUY THIS.
