I bought this film to own all the Jay and Silent Bob films. It's not a bad film and some of the script is very good indeed. I don't rate it higher as i don't think Amy herself is that good an actress. Jay and Bob aren't in it that much, though i think Bob has more dialogue in this film than all the others put together, so a treat in that respect. more for completists, though if you like rom-coms it rates far higher than some of the drivel seen in more recent years.
Bargin great film

Ok, so far this has to be the ultimate DVD version of the 3rd installment in Kevin Smiths extremely popular Jersey saga. It's my understanding that this is a direct port of the laserdisc version of the film with a couple of added extras in case anyone who bought the laserdisc version felt cheated I guess. There are plenty of bonus features to keep the most ardent KS fan happy. Heck, that was my main reason for buying this version over the sub-standard UK version. Here in the UK interactive menues are considered a bonus feature! The film itself is still a classic even if it is the second most underrated KS film ever. Even though I'm in a very happy relationship I still believe, due to previous experience, it's the most realistic & funny love story ever told. To finish, if you enjoy Chasing Amy & feel, as I do, that it was woefully underrated I highly recommend Jersey Girl. Ignore the fact that J-Lo is in it, I can assure you she isn't in it for long. Also ignore the fact that the critics tore it apart like a pack of hungry lions on an injured baby gazelle. After all, critics can only give their opinions based on their personal perspective, they can't tell you what you're going to like or dislike because they're not you & everyones tastes are different. That's what makes each of us individuals. Buy the film & make up your own mind. Personally I think it's the best & most underrated film Mr Smith has made so far.Read full review
This is a great film! If you arn't a fan of soppy romantic films where everyones a winner then pick this! Its a very real life love story with real issues like past sex lives! How many sexual partners! Being gay! Bisexual! Friends who dont like your chosen partner! e.t.c There should be some thing from this film that you can relate to. Sometimes a little dark and deep but it all adds up to one hell of a film! If you are Jay and Silent Bob/Kevin Smith fan then this does not dissapoint.
Straying away from his usual brand of dick and fart jokes and 'Snootchie-Bootchies', director Kevin Smith goes for a more hard hitting, emotional feel to this movie, and it works. Telling the story of a Holden (Affleck) dealing with his feelings towards lesbian Alyssa (Adams) and his relationship with his best friend, Banky (Lee). We still have Kevin Smith's 'low-brow' humour but it is dealt with in a much more mature manner, to better tie in with the serious subjects the film tackles. While this film may take a different route comedy wise, it remains within the confounds of the 'View-askewinverse' (with references to events mentioned in Mallrats and related characters). Jay and Silent Bob even pop up to offer some much needed advice (albeit in a cameo roll). If you want to giggle for 2 hours while Jay and Silent Bob run around spouting dumb-ass catch-phrases (Snootchie Bootchies? Who da .... talks like that, that's ....... baby talk!) then buy the mallrats extended dvd. However if you want to enjoy a film that gives you your Kevin Smith-esq humour with a little something to get you thinking as well, then watch, nay buy, this film.Read full review
