I'm using this as a helmet camera during my ride to work and so far it's doing all that I could have expected. I've dialled the image quality back from 1080p to 720p initially to extend the battery life. However, even on this lower resolution the image quality is very good - much sharper than my previous action cam (Contour 1080p). Primarily I wanted it for the video but it's a real bonus that it has built in GPS and also connects to the Garmin speed, cadence and HR sensors I have on my bike. It also doesn't need a separate waterproof case and the mounts are GoPro compatible. Video is also much steadier than with the Contour as well. The biggest surprise, though, was Garmin's Virb Edit software, which is both good and easy to use. It allows you to easily combine data from all your sensors into an overlay on the video, makes cropping, splitting and combining clips a doddle and apparently can also add music although I've not tried this feature yet. The only slight negative is the battery life. Garmin claim 2 hours on 1080p but I rather doubt this. After my first ride home - roughly 1½ hours - the battery was on it's last bar. It's true that Li batteries tend to improve after the first couple of uses so I may try again now that it's run in. I avoided a number of cheaper cameras because the battery wouldn't have made it so I'm deducting 1 start for that. Using 720p does extend the life substantially and I think I'd certainly get 2 hours on that setting.Read full review

Bought this item to wi-fi connect to a Garmin 1022 chartplotter. It's a nightmare to setup - the menu is sluggish and reboots frequently. The wi-fi drops out a few seconds after connecting to the chartplotter, reconnects for a few seconds and then drops out again. Trying to pair it with a mobile device is also a nightmare. It takes several reboots to get the wi-fi to work and the streamed video is very poor quality. Definitely not worth the money- NOT RECOMMENDED.

Other than the outer packing, you wouldn't know this was a refurbished unit. It came with all the manuals, mounts and small parts, power cable and moisture trap. Well boxed and working perfectly, great action cam that's underated and sometimes overlooked in favour of the GoPro unit. After using both (Hero7 Silver and Virb X) I am a fan of the Garmin and now it can use GoPro mounts it's even better. No screen means a phone or tablet is needed to setup easily but the connectivity of the unit outweighs that slight inconvenience. Joining several cameras together was easy and adding other sensors was a breeze. Virb editing software is also great for multicamera editting and adding overlays from the G-Metrix data. Only issue I would raise is the unique power cable required to charge the camera without removing the battery or uploading from the camera to the PC, I bought a spare just in case but it may worry some users.Read full review

A good quality camera with great features. If you care about image quality this is probably the best you can get in this price range. Personally I like these cameras because they are waterproof without the need for an external case. Possibility for overlay with different types of sensors with built in G-force sensor and GPS to record speed and position. Other external sensors available to purchase. Sensor data is recorded separately and are optional in editing. Mobile app and editor are well made.

Nice camera, feels stronger and more robust than my gopros. Waterproof without additional cases. Easy to adapt to use gopro mounts. Recommended
