Though many factors led to the Nazi defeat in World War II, some particularly unusual elements were key deficiencies in the Luftwaffe (or German Air Force) - such as Hitler's failure to invest in long-range, four-engine bombers. It took the Nazis' opponents some time to recognize and acknowledge such weaknesses, masked as they were by the Blitzkrieg successes, but they remained unaddressed for long enough that the Allies managed to successfully turn the tide.
