    Really interesting well told story.

    I read a book called The Terror which is a novel based on the last Arctic expedition of Terror and Erebus. I found this really exciting, moving and a bit scary, but nevertheless I loved it. So when I realized that Michael Palin had written the story of Erebus I had to read it. I'm only part way through but so far I'm really enjoying it as it gives all the background of the ship. I can't wait to read the real events of when it was stuck in the ice and its eventual demise. Thoroughly recommended.

    Fascinating story of mans endeavours.

    Already captivated by the story...just started the book but of course being written by Sir Michael Palin I knew it would be well written, he has clearly done a huge amount of research for this book and I look forward to diving back into it.

    Absorbing, mysterious and fascinating.

    A very well written and thoroughly researched book by Michael Palin telling the fascinating and engrossing story of The Erebus and Terror from their initial voyages of discovery in the Antarctic to their somewhat mysterious ends in the Arctic. Full of dates, wonderful places and ports of call and interesting characters yet written in a manner that is easily read and understood, I was fully absorbed in this book and enjoyed reading it immensely.
