    Still a very capable high quality camera

    If you need a decent camera for sports, then choose one of these before an entry level new model. Megapixel seems low but quality of images are absolutely excellent when coupled with a decent enough lens - for example the VR 55-300 Nikon. Shutter counts seem to be the main deciding factor when people purchase a camera but I have NEVER had a shutter failure on one of these high end Nikon’s. Nowadays, shutters are made with planned obsolescence so that they are doomed to fail. It is a marketing ploy in order for consumers to buy new cameras as they get produced. Nothing more. These cameras do not suffer this problem generally. All in all, I would highly recommend one of these models.

    Get a good one, add two new batteries and a good lens, it's a winner.

    First I'll explain the scores, overall for my intended use it's GOOD. Picture quality is a combination, low pixel count compared with the latest bodies is LOW, so it has to be below average, but with good glass accurately exposed it's fine for my use. Features however could be good, IF you need to use them, but too many toy's and it's becomes confusing, so average will do. Size/weight, EXCELLENT, ok it IS heavy, its a Pro body, not a toy, the balance and weight are an advantage, don't want the weight, buy a plastic fantastic. VFM, GOOD, it's not cheap and in good condition still sought after by those who need 8 FPS (sports aren't the only use) and to get a result. OK, now I'll tell you why I bought one, my D1H and D1x batteries are awful, treat them right and they will do a hundred or so ...

    8 frames a second. 300 dpi prints up to 10x8, screen viewing on tablet or hd monitor 20 inch or above. a bargain at less than £200. built like a tank.
