About this product

Product Information

Don Coscarelli's BUBBA HO-TEP finds Elvis Presley (Bruce Campbell) alive but not so well, living in a small Texas nursing home. Although he's preoccupied with his ailments and his memories, the elderly Elvis befriends another resident who thinks he's John F. Kennedy (Ossie Davis) when they both begin to suspect that their neighbors aren't dying of natural causes. Their investigation leads to the discovery of an evil mummy with a fondness for cowboy gear and an appetite for the souls of senior citizens. Armed with little more than a walker and a wheelchair, the King and JFK must take on this ancient evil.Based on a short story by Joe R. Lansdale, BUBBA HO-TEP mixes comedy, drama, and horror to create a remarkably quirky film. As the aged and ailing Elvis, Campbell gives an outstandingly funny and poignant performance, while Davis exudes intelligence and warmth as JFK. Although horror is a key element of the story, much of the movie focuses on the life of Elvis and his new friendship with the former president, leading to many oddly comical scenes and even a few genuinely touching moments. Of course, their embalmed foe and his creepy minions must be confronted, making this the first movie about Elvis and JFK to appeal to horror enthusiasts, or, conversely, the first horror movie to appeal to Elvis and JFK enthusiasts. Either way, it's a highly unconventional tale that no adventurous filmgoer should miss.

    Totally enjoyed Bubba Ho-Tep

As a life long Elvis fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It captured my interest and there weren't any boring parts. All the actors and actresses played their parts with excellence. Although I wouldn't rate this movie as a comedy, there were definitely some very funny parts. This is one you won't find on HBO or Cinemax. I give it two thumbs up and a couple of toes.

  • "Bruce Campbell at his Best!!!!"

This is one of the coolest movies I have ever seen. A must own for every Elvis/Horror Flick fan, (a fan of both). The King, "Bruce Campbell",who swapped lives with a Texas based Elvis impersonator, and J.F.K., (Ossie Davis) are in the latter days of life at the Shady Rest convalesence home where it seems all has not been well for the residents since a recent bus crash carrying a museum bound mummy, (who needs human souls to survive) found it's resting place in the river behind the home. What happens from here can be left for the viewer, but be ready for a comedy/horror flick at it's finest. Don't be cruel man....YOUCANDOIT!

  • Bubba Ho-Tep (or the final Thank you, very much!)

Bubba Ho-Tep is a must-see title for fans of Bruce Campbell. Sure, it's got Elvis. It's got potty humor (seriously, it does!). It's got a soul-sucking mummy with a penchant for cowboy boots and a Stetson. It's got Campbell's famous chin (covered in prosthetics). It's also got some remarkably sensitive acting by the unquestionably talented Ossie Davis and Bruce Campbell. Elvis is a 70 year old living in a rest home in east Texas. He's all but given up on life, living is self-imposed isolation and sure that he's got cancer but that no one is telling him. His life is full of regrets and remorse. As the action heats up, Elvis begins to find meaning in his life. In a cornball sort of way, it could be a life lesson for the rest of us. At least we don't have soul-sucking mummies to cope ...

  • Bubba Ho-Tep (DVD, 2004)

For people that enjoy watching movies with Bruce Campbell, this movie Bubba Ho-Tep is by far one of Bruce's best performance ever! I really felt he was an aging ELVIS. Also the plot of Elvis switching with a look a like ELVIS performer to to get some relief from the people around him milking him dry of his money and pretending to be his friends for their own personal gain was very plausible and believable. Also as far as mummies go the story line was good. Of course the ending could have been better. Also it said coming soon Bubba Nosferatu!! Well I hope they get the funding for this sequel and I really hope they get Bruce Campbell back to play ELVIS again. In closing if you like Bruce Campbell and you like the Horror genre movies you just have to watch this movie as it has a little bit of ...

  • Bubba Ho Tep - Big Thumbs Up!!!

I've always liked Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, Briscoe County Junior)and I stumbled accross this gem on Encore one Saturday afternoon. A soul sucking mummy uses a retirement home as his own personal feeding ground. Who's going to stop him? Why an aging Elvis and a black John F. Kennedy of course! The "Elvis" back story is fun and creative. Would've like more from the Lone Ranger fella. I liked the perspective on growing old and how to rage against the dying of a light. One of my favorites.
