  • 900 Pages!!!

I bought this book because I found that I had purchased book 2 in this series. I decided to buy book 1 and read it first. I had no clue it had 900 pages - don't think I will ever finish it. I am sure it is a great book from a literary point of view, but there is not enough action. I am plodding through too many day to day activities of the main character. Maybe it will speed up later - I am about a third of the way through. I have read Barbara Taylor Bradford before and loved the book, so I thought this one would be equally exciting. So far, that has not been the case.

  • A must read. Compelling story of a poor servant girl who struggled to rise out of her situation through hard work and driven by a hatred of those who

Exactly what I wanted.arrived fast. I had read it years ago and wanted to read it again. An inexpensive copy was just the way to go.

  • woman of substance

I usually don't like fiction but this book is WONDERFUL! I saw her on CBS sunday morning a few weeks ago and heard good things about her (the author) and especially about this book so I thought I would give it a try and have not been disappointed. I'll look forward to trying another of Barbara Taylor Bradford's books in the future!
