    Alice

One of my favorite books as a teen in the 70's. I read it when it first came out. The school library made it available. Sad, because in todays culture it wouldn't be allowed in school. It's the story of Alice, a young girl consumed by the world of drugs. Reading this diary you can't help but feel sorry for Alice. To see her world crumble and the drugs consume her young life. It has been said the story was made up. The girl is not a real person. But if you have ever been around someone who drugs were their life. You know the story to be true. My daughter who had never sat down to read a book, even by high school. Read this one and shared it with her friends. Who all read it and thanked me for sharing this hard story of a young girl. That copy was lost. I purchased this copy for my 14 ...

  • Go Ask Alice

I teach junior high students who have been expelled for various reasons. Most of them have never read a book completely through. I was looking for a book that they could read quickly, understand and learn from. The book's language is "dated" so I feel that my students would not identify with it. Additionally, the character in the book, in my opinion, glamorizes drug use. If the students do not read the book completely through, they may come away with a skewed vision of what drugs did to the main character. It was a fast read and easily divided into reading sections. I am going to assign it to my students and see what their opinions are.

  • Good books for teens in high school to read!

My high school students really enjoy this book. I read it and for the most part felt that it was accurate. It is about addictions and the author did a good job of making her audience believe that it is a true account of a teenager with a drug addiction. The ending was very abrupt as if she just got tired of writing and .... I don't want to give it away. A must read for high schoolers. Hopefully it will make them more aware of what drugs do and how easily a person may get addicted.

  • Book for H.S. library

This was purchased and donated to the local HS library where I work b/c we cannot keep this book on the shelves. The students also will not bring it back b/c they love it so. I was watching other ebay things and thought I'd check out this and other books. Price was right for me since I am retired and this is a very low paying job. I knew the kids loved this book and since I have brought it into the library I haven't even had time to get the book accessioned into the library files b/c when the kids saw it, they are reserving it and reading it and at this point returning it so others can read it. This is great b/c I love kids to read. It is a thing that can go through with them in their lives and they can imagine or go anywhere they want. Thanks for having the price that was right. And the ...

  • This is a story about a teenager who messes with drugs and how she dealt with the consequences.

I want my Grandkids to read this book, I hope it will scare them into not taking drugs. I recommend this book to all parents and grandparents of teens.
