This camera is much more than my smaller Nikon Coolpix, I’m able to capture pics of birds in the neighbors tree , 4 houses down. The images are sharp thanks to the awesome optical zoom. Got a wonderful image of the moon and can’t wait for the next full moon at the end of the month.

My wife and I are locally known nature photographers, and we both now use the Nikon P900 cameras. I say now, because we stopped using Canon T-6 bodies with "L" quality zoom lenses (75-200mm, 100-400mm, 28-300mm - the 'white' lenses) and replaced them with the Nikon P900! This camera is far less weight to carry in the field. The 83x zoom is equivalent to 24-2000mm. The pictures are crisp, and at 16 megapixels, our images look good blown up to 24"x30" prints. I can't say enough about the ease of use, ease of carry, and quality of pictures we get with our Nikon P900's. We bought two of these cameras with the proceeds of selling one of our Canon "L" lenses. The cost vs quality of the Nikon makes it one of the best point-and-shoot cameras on the market today! Actual photos off the SD card out of my wife's camera.Read full review

I just started using it, but immediately was impressed with the extreme zoom capability. Picture quality seems good but I have not tried difficult lighting and framing situations yet. It is lightweight and offers macro/wide angle/telephoto in one package. Because of the long lens when extended I am learning to hold my left hand on the lens where a zoom control allows adjustment while the right controls auto focus and shutter. There are many settings still to try so I am holding off on higher rating until more use helps determine ultimate potential.

Still exploring this camera. It's a bit heavy for me and thought I'd use it as a stop gap before buying the 3# P1000 next year. OOPS not sure about that as this 2# baby is heavy for my arthritic wrists and hands so already wishing a relative who borrowed my camera stick for a walking stick in 2004 would consider gifting it back. Anyway it's a lovely camera. I may have paid a bit too much but then again I don't really think so. They are no longer made and it's the lat of the Coolpix that has GPS tracking. Which we wanted. Also it was a used but barely used and definitely not abused camera. I've sold a few used cameras myself that we took great care with so sure enough this one was well taken care of included original box etc. I bought extras to boost it's fun too like a remote control & lens hood plus extra lens and protective UV lens. All in all it's very snowy here with lots of freezing rain too so we aren't getting out to fully enjoy what this camera will actually do. Spring will arrive and when it does we have a great camera to have fun with. Read full review
