El Diccionario se le quedó inconcluso. Molesto tal vez porque un simple mortal en una mísera vida pretendiera abarcar tanto, todo un idioma, Dios no quiso que lo terminara. Quiso en cambio (designios suyos inescrutables) que este hombre puro, generoso y de alma grande entrara en su Gloria. El cuervo blanco incoa y lleva a feliz término su proceso de canonización. A self-taught man, he becomes an expert in the language and decides to settle in France, where he undertakes a colossal piece of work: the Dictionary of Construction and the Governing System of the Spanish Language.
