About this product

Product Information

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger -- Portable is a 2D fighting game by Arc System Works, the studio that created the distinctive Guilty Gear series. BlazBlue features fast, anime-inspired fighting action, which plays out over detailed, multi-layered backgrounds, with flashy, sometimes psychedelic visual effects for special attacks and big hits. The fighting takes on a certain rhythm, as there is a split-second pause after each hit, giving players who can catch on to the cadence a chance to use the brief freezes to time their next move or counterattack. The action is very fast, and without the stuttering pauses, few humans could hope to keep up. Each character has a special "drive" attack move, which is difficult to perform, but devastating if used correctly. The story of the game involves dissent and destruction among a powerful council, known unofficially as "the Library," which controls a great power that once saved humanity, but which now wields its power in protective, some say repressive, ways. The game's developer declared BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger to be the "spiritual successor" to the Guilty Gear series. Its roster of combatants is a rogues' gallery of weird, super-powered, emotionally complicated characters, including vampires and werewolves, and the beat-'em-up action plays out to an unrelenting precision-metal soundtrack by composer Daisuke Ishiwatari. Gamers can join three friends for Ad-hoc multiplayer battles, while the PSP-exclusive "Legion" mode offers a Risk-like mechanic in which players journeying across a map to battle characters and conquer their territory.

  • One of the best fightings games I've played thus far! It's a must have!

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is an intense Action Fighting game like no other. It has a wonderful array of characters from the serious to the more comical. Each character has a rich and very in-depth backstory, somehow connecting with the other characters. Unlike most fighting games, in this games Story Mode, winning doesn't always mean you get the full story. To keep things short, I would recommend this game to any person into fighting games and/or just looking for a new game to try. Pros: Great story line. Awesome Characters with rich backstorys. Unique fighting styles for all the characters. Legion Mode is by far one of the most unique modes compared to any other fighting games modes. Cons: The use of special moves through one touch buttons makes the game incredibly easy, even on the ...

  • Different name, big improvement

Spiritual sequel of Guilty Gear, great pick if you loved the famous Guilty Gear series. Old School-2D fighting style will keep you hooked to this game. Big bunch of characters, alternate modes from the original one and the blessing of playing this game wherever you go will make you ask for a sequel. Perfect game for fighting gamers.
