My father served 22 years in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a Chief Gunner's Mate. I wanted to get him something really nice for Father's Day, and I was delighted that he was delighted with this collection. Both he and I really enjoyed this set. I watched many of them with him. He's a fine in-person narrator that I could ask questions of. The segments are informative and the cinematography is great (thank you, History Channel). If your person appreciates destroyers and/or ships and the Heroes that manned them, I would recommend scouting out a good price from the available buyers and purchasing this DVD series (one package). Note: If your military person isn't used to DVDs, show then how not to get fingerprints on the silver side. If they do, then the picture will skip and pixel out until the disk is cleaned properly - just like any DVD.Read full review
It's a pretty good series except for the fact that it only mentions American ships. There were lots of other Allied ships that served well and were just as heroic. A more rounded and open-minded series would be nice!
Great DVD with live footage of Combat Action of these Navel ships and their unforgettable battles , a must for any military buff. Also bought as I was a reenactor in the LST 325 Segment a must have DVD set.
This is a great DVD! I bought it because I live in south Jersey and have visited the USS New Jersey a couple of times and wanted to see some actual footage of the ship in action. I was not disapointed!
