    It was the perfect title for the film

    It is a biopic and I am a biopic fan. I was especialy interested in watching the special features part of the dvd in I was able see the real Ruth Etting perform in a short feature

    Love Me Or Leave Me

    This is an outstanding film which matches the acting capabilities of two of Hollywood greatest stars, James Cagney and Doris Day. This is an explosive film. Cagney plays a Chicago thug (what else) who meets up with an young women Ruth Etting, who has a desire and the talent to become a big star. Cagney uses his name (Martin Snyder), coercement, pressure and intimidation to get Etting her start. Snyder is a very demanding figure in her life. He intimidates her to a point of no return. Doris Day is excellent in the role of Ruth Etting and reflects the emotion and struggles that existed during her relationship with Snyder. The sound track is beautiful highlighting the beautiful and emotional voice of Doris Day.

    Doris Day Shines In This Wonderful DVD!

    This movie is 56 years old, but the widescreen print is vibrant & colorful. The sound is stereophonic & re-mastered. There are three shorts, two feature the real Ruth Etting. Seeing Doris Day, play a somewhat hard person is a treat because she usually played the girl-next-door types. I can watch anything Doris ever filmed & love it because her sweet, happy personality makes you want to show her love, respect & want to protect her. I respect the late James Cagney, but I have never been a huge fan, but he's good here, mad in love with Doris but he does not melt her butter with his menacing ways. Cameron Mitchell plays a pianist who Doris falls in love with, but won't admit it until she leaves the lecher Cagney. The songs are lovely especially the ballads, too bad ...

    Love Me Or Leave Me is a must have for any collector of classic movies!

    All time classic starring the greats Doris Day and James Cagney. It’s quite a departure from her usual comedic roles as it’s the story of Ruth Etting a singer that led a turbulent life. Doris did an amazing job in portraying Ruth Etting’s ups and downs while rising to stardom and in a relationship with her very controlling agent/gangster/boyfriend played by Cagney. This movie is my favorite Doris Day movie. I’ve seen it many times but never owned the DVD. I can now say that this classic movie is part of my collection of Doris Day movies.
