Comanche Moon is second to be seen in the Lonesome Dove series (you may disregard Streets of Laredo- very poor.. just forget it). Comanche Moon stars Val Kilmer as Scull the ruthless top notch Indian killer who leads the Texas Rangers to kill and demoralize as many Comanche as he can in life. His wife played by Rachel Griffiths is a nymphomaniac and shows no mercy as she goes from one man to the next. Scull is aware of her behaviour but is obsessed with Indian killing, spruiking philosophical tales and of course logging and sketching insects. Sculls' horse is stolen and he sets out alone to retake his favourite horse and kill the Comanche who stole it. His plans go askew as he is taken prisoner and sentenced to the hole to die... of course he escapes aided by the murderous Mexicans' mother, As can be expected there are mishaps, twists and turns throughout Comanche Moon but by golly it's terribly well done. And fits nicely in as the second in the Lonesome Dove series. As the series two central figures Call and McCrae experience life and become firstly mature and then aging cowboys. Summary: Well written and acted and absolutely engrossing. Read full review
