Space adventurer Buzz Lightyear loses his partner during a mission and resolves to never jeopardize another person's life again. But Buzz's commander, Nebula finds him a replacement anyway: Princess Mira Nova. Meanwhile, Buzz's nemesis, nefarious Emperor Zurg, plots to steal the Uni-mind, a valuable device that facilitates the little green men's collective thought process; without it, the whole race is useless. Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins
(2004, VHS) I bought this with my grandchildren in mind because they all loved "Toy Story" and thought this would be a great add-on. The graphics and colors are vibrant and clear, as in all Pixar productions. However, there seems to be a higher degree of violence than in the "Toy Story" films. It depicts life events... betrayal of a friend, and commradery from unexpected sources. All in all, it is an enjoyable story, but I'm not sure I'll give it to them to watch just yet. They are 6 and 4 years, and seem to get enough rough play as it is.(2004, VHS) I bought this with my grandchildren in mind because they all loved "Toy Story" and thought this would be a great add-on. A great movie for any Toy Story fan!
My kids LOVE (i.e. OBSESSED!) with Toy Story. This movie is supposed to take place before the Toy Story movies; it's the movie that is supposed to have made Buzz Lightyear so popular among Andy and his CG counterparts! It also takes place before the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command show that aired on Disney Channel, hence "The Adventure Begins". This movie is an animated cartoon like the show, not CG like the Toy Story franchise.
