Reviews
This forensic look at history one helmet a time will be of interest to any World War II historian, and will also be an excellent resource for World War II figure modelers that are missing out on some very distinctive details that were applied in the theater. Definitely recommended!, At first I thought a book about a type of combat helmet, how interesting can this be? Well, let me tell you, this book covers the M1 helmet completely from design to combat history in World War II. The neat thing is that this book has stories to tell about a collected series of M1 helmets that were found after the war. I was very impressed...a must have for your book collection.
Synopsis
This book proposes a complete study of the variants in the manufacturing of the M1 helmet, illustrated with more than 700 full-color photos and presents a new selection of helmets coming from the woodwork, stemming from private collections and museums. The technical evolution of the M1 and its paratrooper conversions M2 and M1 C is summarized in the form of plans and clear synthesis boards. The selection of more than 120 helmets evokes, from Normandy to Germany, the battles of the European Theatre of operation. Numerous photos reveal their peculiarity, pictograms summarize their technical characteristics and legends tell their history. These material witnesses bring to life a conflict which ravaged the western Europe.

I was quite pleased to find this item from this seller. This book did not have a large print run. The price was very reasonable. The new book was in excellent condition. The seller packed the book very well to protect it. I was pleasantly surprised how quickly the item arrived. I would purchase books from this seller again.

This series is quite unique but not easy to find in the US. The details provided in each volume give some insight into what both sides of the Battle of Britain experienced. Book is brand new as advertised. Came very well packaged and quickly. I’m a repeat customer and expect to continue that trend. Highly recommend this seller!

  • MIs- bound copy

Although missing the 1st 20 pages it still has the helmet liner data in an easily read table for manufacturers with the rough time span of various features. The heat stamp dates for McCord steel shells is also tabulated for easy reference but unfortunately not the Shlueter shells. The helmet stories of what appears to be the sad stories from battlefield pickups is a tribute to those fallen soldiers well done by a Frenchman. I don't know what I missed in those 1st 20 pages. I may needs to buy a perfect copy so that I can remove and frame the tables. This copy was less than half the price of a perfect copy and was worth the gamble.
