I actually purchased a line 6 pod 2.0, not the xt. The 2.0, as I understand it, has been the work horse in studios for about a decade. I bought it because I wanted something to use as a stand alone, as well as, something to record with. Initially, I was a little disappointed because the stock sounds weren't all that impressive. It wasn't unitl I installed the line edit software and began to download sounds through the custom tone site. Now, I'm impressed. the 2.0 is easy to work with because the settings are right in front of you. They're setup, basically, the way they would be on an amp. I plan to run it through my Tascam X2 and record into Cubase. You really can't go wrong with the 2.0, xt, or the x3. I paid $84.00 for mine. the 2.0 retails for $200.00. I think that's a pretty good savings.Read full review
I love my POD XT!!! Why? firstly, it is Model-Pack friendly: FX Junky is a good way to expand your tonal landscape. A little thoughtful tweaking can produce some pretty amazing tones. Crank this into a good amp/cab set-up and WOW!! It does require some time to reduce fizz and mush on the higher gain settings. I found reducing the bass and treble settings allows the gain controls to breathe; alittle goes a long way/less is more kinda thing. Also great for headphone practice. I have a very dreamy Holdsworth clean sound and then a pretty good Holdsy lead sound; also a min imoog Jan Hammer-esque lead sound that is very fun...and some other synth sounds that i enjoy (the tracking is no latency and pretty fast if you play monophonically precise). Also, the XT is capable of some fat metal chunk tones, good funk cleans, and very useable wah settings. AND FCB1010 friendly: All in all, pretty awesome "old" tech. Glad i have one!Read full review

It is easy to use. The presets are great, but fine tuning is a breeze and you can do it without a computer...old school! I have even increased part of an effect on the fly; during the set! I highly recommend this option. I also like the pedal. It is a real throw pedal you can feel. 100% happy, wish i had gotten it sooner! This model is not supported well on the website...I guess too outdated, however the user forum (if you can figure it out) offers more sounds than your memory will hold. Mine belonged to a great player, so some of his sounds have suited me. I am especially impressed with the Twin Reverb amp model. It is the closest i have ever heard.

This review is for Line 6 pod 2.0 (not pod xt, ebay put that in there for some reason). I won an auction for a broken Line 6 pod 2.0 I took it apart and re-soldered the bad components and then powered it up and .... nothing. I was upset but i figured out the ac adapter was bad. Went to radio shack and got a 9V 1500mA adapter, plugged it in and it powered up and all menu functions worked but.... no sound Got a real Line6 9V 1200mA ac adapter from another auction. Plugged it in and powered up the pod 2.0 ........ yessssss it now worked. The dead pod 2.0 is now back to life. Full menu and all the great sounds. The line 6 pod 2.0 is awesome. It took me a while to learn to use the hidden features though. All the knobs do things like bass, mid, reverb etc but the knobs do "extra" things if you hold the "tap tempo" key while turning. For example for a big Marshall plexi sound: choose the Brit classic from the amp models knob, then set the cabinet to 4x12 using Tap tempo + effects knob, then if you want huge overdrive hold tap tempo + turn drive to 8 or 9, add a little delay with the effects knob, enhance the delay with tap tempo + middle knob sound confusing? Well it is but its ok once you get used to the "dual" function of all the knobs. Heres a list of the special knobs. tap tempo + drive = overdrive boost (pre-amp boost) tap tempo + bass = echo (this is not really documented anywhere) tap tempo + middle = delay enhancement tap tempo + treble = presence boost (post-amp volume) tap tempo + channel volume = another volume boost ??? tap tempo + amp models = even more amp models tap tempo + effects = cabinet select (this is probably the coolest and most useful function in the whole pod 2.0) tap tempo + reverb = ???? unknown tap tempo + effect tweak = ???? unknown There is alot of other stuff like presets, tuner, noise gate, saving, midi, pc software, "air" mode, headphone mode, stereo output, etc.... I've read that the pod xt is a large improvement over the pod 2.0 but that just means there is alot of pod 2.0's available on ebay for good prices.Read full review
By itself with your instrument plugged in and the PODxt plugged into an amp, it sounds good and you can do a lot of sound tweaking. It has great modeling sounds and distortion effects. Where the PODxt really shines is it's USB interface. When hooked up USB not only do you get a digital signal to your PC that is PERFECT for recording, your PODxt becomes the native soundcard on your PC and takes a huge load off of your CPU. It also will fix most recording latency issues you might be experiencing. You also get to download for free from the Line6 website the programs Gearbox and POD Monkey. With these you can update firmware and drivers on the fly, and fully tweak, manipulate your own sounds on a keen user interface. And even better is you can download thousands of user created tones and search for tones by band or artist. You wanna sound like The Scorpions? It's there. Metallica? It's there. You wanna sound like Adrian Belew from King Crimson? Yes, it's there. Then for $50 or so you can get POD Farm, which I believe is even more customization and sounds. I hear it's really great, but for now I'm stickin with the free stuff! If you can get one cheap, and you like to do home recording this is a great way to do it!Read full review
I use this for great sounds while I travel. I use the rack mount POD XT Pro with a Carvin Tube 100 Stereo Power Amp into 2 Marshall 4X12 Cabs at home. However, all of the sounds that I have modified and saved I upload to Line 6 Monkey and with a simple cable I have the same sounds in both units. You really can't beat the quality and value of Line 6 Products.

Great for Home Studios. I use it for recording at the house, haven't tried a "live" setup yet. Not having a "real" studio, I can get high quality guitar tracks recorded without having to worry about mics and cables etc. Also not having a sound proof booth, I don't have to worry about unwanted noise and poor room effects. The amp modeling is superb for what I do. I like being able to "dial in" an SRV or Pete Anderson sound as needed for a song. I have an old Fender Twin Reverb I use on stage and the PODxt models it almost exact. Cuts down on the hassle when I want to lay a few guitar tracks.

The Wizards at Line 6 got it right with Pod XT. The variety of amp and cabinet options combined with infinite echo and reverb selection lets me simulate the grandeur of a JCM 900 in a empty Gothic cathedral or the sharp attack of a Super Reverb in the Men's room at Penn Station. I can catalog pre-sets song by song for my gigs and only adjust 1 knob between songs (during the thunderous applause obviously ) for maximum effect. Thank you Line 6!

I bought this unit to have the ability to achieve a wide range of sounds while playing live. Following the instructions in the manual, I found that when I plugged into a sound system I should change to AIR from AMP setting. I found this to be too 'trebley' and tried switching back to AMP and it was a much fuller sound. Periodically, I have a few electrical glitches where the unit will switch settings on it's own for no apparent reason while I'm playing. Kind of a pain if you're in the middle of a solo part. Overall, the range of effects available with one pedal is really handy.
I was getting bored with the minimal variety of sounds that my 25 watt Park amp would produce. Don't get me wrong, for what it is it's a great little amp. So I started surfing e-bay and Craigslist, looking to spend about $500 on a better amp with more effects. Before I found anything worthy of my hard earned five bills, a buddy of mine brought his Line 6 Pod XT over and plugged it between my guitar and amp. I was totally blown away! I've always considered myself, at best, a mediocre guitar player. But when I played with the Pod, I sounded like Clapton, Hendricks and Page rolled up into one! Not really, but much better than I did without the Pod. I got on e-bay and within a week I purchased a used one for about $150 including the shipping. What an incredible bargain, I saved myself about $350 and have a greater variety of sound than I would with a new amp. I'm not going to recite the technical mumbo jumbo, you can find that with the product listing. But I will say that in addition to the 60 plus different amp models, you can interface this with your computer for recording and downloading new sounds for free from the Line 6 website. Happy playing and I hope you found this review useful.Read full review
