About this product

Product Information

Jane Campion's literary biopic tells the true story of Fanny Brawne (Abbie Cornish), a 23-year-old Londoner in 1818 whose independent streak manifests itself through an intense interest and love for fashion and dressmaking. Her neighbor, the struggling but gifted young poet John Keats (Ben Whishaw), underestimates her intelligence because he believes she's frivolous, and she, having no interest in literature, seems thoroughly disinterested in him. However, Fanny attempts to help the Keats family when John's brother becomes gravely ill, and in order to express his gratitude John agrees to teach her poetry -- leading Fanny and John to quickly fall deeply and profoundly in love with each other. Although they wish to wed, his lack of finances and his writing partner (Paul Schneider) -- who believes she is nothing more than an unwelcome distraction -- keep the two from marrying.

    Perfect love story

I loved it I heard so much about his poetry but to see how it was for him love and loss was beautiful and sad at the same time

  • Great!

There is something about period pieces, true or not, that is absolutely lovely. This is a delicious but sad story of Fanny Brawne and John Keats. A poet whose short life impressed the world with his simple words 'a thing of beauty is a joy forever.' A good watch.

  • Awesome, intelligent treatment of poet's life and love on previously used D

I bought this DVD because I missed this film at the theaters and could not find it at rental company and heard it was good. It is about the love story between John Keats and his neighbor and friend. He died before they could marry. The movie was terrific, the acting was great and the script was sensitive and uplifting despite the sadness of the story. the DVD was like new and I had no problems playing it. I would buy from this vendor again.

  • Awesome movie... Go watch it now :)

This is a brilliant and really touching movie... It's hard to get too much of it. I love the calm pace of the film (definitely not for action movie die hards) and the characters It's a rich environment for a great story... and if you like this, I would definitely recommend 'The Young Victoria' as well... these two films go hand in hand as my go-tos for those 'chick flick' nights Definitely family friendly with practically no (if any depending on some peoples standard) objectionable content makes it also a great family film

  • Love it.

Bought it for a friend who doesn't have Netfix, and I wanted her to see it. Knowing full well she would love this movie, and she did.
