    Period movie

    If you love stories about families and all they entail (death, teen angst, falling outs & reconciliations) and you are a fan of another period of time in America you will LOVE this movie. This is one of my favorites which takes place in the late 1800's. The story is told through the heroine, a teenage girl who wants to be a writer. I feel that the for the time period, the difference between the poor, the upper middle class and the wealthy are portrayed spot on. The setting is very typical for a New England farm in a small town of the time. Jacqueline Bisset gives an excellent performance as the wealthy grandmother trying to help her struggling daughter and grandchildren despite her daughters not forgiving and therefore accepting her at first.     This story is heart-warming, but not in a sugary sweet, sappy way, We can all relate to family problems, due to pride, hurt feelings, etc. This story helps us to see how torn families can be repaired, given time. Definitely worth seeing, every Thanksgiving. In short, it’s a heart-warming, realistic family tale.

    This is such a great movie. The movie describes a families struggles and how they overcome them with family. I love the plot and that there is a movie set around Thanksgiving. I'm glad I bought this movie.
