It replaces a rather clunky unit I bought some years ago which only measures temperature and which cost as much as the new device. It failed because there was no prior warning of low battery in the external unit (as there is on this unit) and battery corrosion ruined it. The device measures what I want to see. It is very easy to set up and having a direct USB power connection to the main unit to replace the battery power is a big plus.
