  • Great puzzle-platformer with killer music

I bought this game specifically for the awesome opening theme song, but little did I know that the whole soundtrack was pretty catchy as well. The gameplay is also equal amounts fun as it is challenging; none of the puzzles ever feel unfair or unsolvable, which is fantastic, especially since games from this era normally like to be incredibly difficult just for the sake of it. The whole package comes together to truly make a unique and memorable experience for anyone looking to play some old games on the classic NES system.

The vivid box and cover artwork was painted by Mike Winterbauer. The game has over 250 rooms to explore, dozens of enemies, and hundreds of puzzles. Play as Shadax the good wizard who must enter the cursed Kastlerock to gather the six pieces of the Staff of Demnos in order to defeat the evil wizard Morbius who has kidnapped the princess Eleanor. Magic items and potions help with the adventure along the way. This was an amazing game when released, and holds up well to ...
