Classic Chicago fans—including those who loved the band when Terry Kath was guitarist, to the time Pete Cetera led the band towards soft rock—will have mixed feelings about this live album with bonus studio tracks. "It is what it is." Chicago still rocks, and the band earnestly wanted this sound to be true to their legacy. For the most part, it works. It really does and is satisfying. The studio tracks just don't help, which would make Robert Lamm ask me, "What do you want?"
As a performing musician (bass/vocals in a 9 piece horn band),I'm one picky SOB! Throw into the mix the fact that we do a lot of 'Chicago' material. This recording/performance is spectacular!
And that is that.
