Better than I'd expected.
Always in the lea of top series, I thought this series may have palled a bit but I was wrong as you get so engrossed with the personalities of the characters and think the choices of which is very engaging as they all have something so enthrallingly engaging. I like them all, although not sure if that was intended. This series allows one to feel sympathy for each individual character and the way life had so many twists in store for them. Although not au fait with American politics this did educate me a tiny bit but it is the people and their personalities which is so engaging and that is what you want when committing to a long series such as this.Always in the lea of top series, I thought this series may have palled a bit but I was wrong as you get so engrossed with the personalities of the characters and think the choices of which is very engaging as they all have something so enthrallingly engaging. Drama at it's best
Because of my work, when a new series comes on TV, I often fail to see it because I choose to record and watch the old familiar stuff. It means I very often find out about a good drama late into the season and this is how it was with West Wing. But once I had watched a few episodes I was hooked. This is American drama at it's best. The characters are believable, and there is a good mix of personalities. I was worried that there might be too much politics, but in fact there is a good mix between the work of the White House, and the personal stories behind the people. I decided to buy the seasons on DVD for two reasons. Firstly because I wanted to see what I missed in season 1, but also because I wanted to be able to have this whole show to watch in the future. It just keeps coming
The writing for the West Wing is exceptional. Season Four keeps up the standard of all those so far. Usually, we find that after a couple of seasons, we get tired of these long-running franchises but the characters, fast-paced repartee and mini-situations are so engaging that we are still hooked. I suppose we should mention the direction and acting as well - first rate.
