Good printer and great price. Wish they'd cleaned it a bit before shipping. Would have given 5 stars if cleaned from dust and grime of age.

does not work, spent 2 days downloading drivers, prints blank pages, a lot of these printers have this issue according to the HP web site

I just got this 2nd hand, and satisfied, at least so far. I'm usually a dummie at installation and setup, yet found this printer to be intuitive enough not to have to be a rocket scientist to figure out, unlike some other brands i've tried. It also isn't noisy nor does it interfere with ceiling lites as was caused by at least two other printer brands I've tried. I would have rated it 5-star if it were built a bit sturdier (like the vintage HP 6L which is even a bit smaller sized than this), and also because the tray has no protective cover for the sheets, allowing them to collect dust. Granted, the vintage printers such as the 6L also have no paper-stack cover, but in the 6L they were stacked vertically, so less prone to collect dust. Not that the 6L didn't have its sheet-feed quirks & slowness to deal with.. rather, you must admit that granddaddy electronics (despite their quirks) have always been workhorses compared to later models.Read full review
I've been using HP's laserjet printers now for about 20 years. What's to like? Small footprint, relatively easy hook-up, and unbeatable print quality. What's not to like? Toner can be expensive (the cheapest cost for me is $55 at my local Sam's Club. (Don't waste your time or money on third party or refurbished toner cartridges!) If you're used to a dot-matrix, this is one investment you won't regret.
This printer is great for a smaller or home based business. It warms up fast and prints much, much faster and clearer than my inkjet in econo b&w mode. Fits right on my desk and doesn't take up any more room than my 17" flat screen monitor. Also, the trays fold up and out of the way to make even more room. Only complaint is that the on/off switch is on the back with is a little annoying but I can live with that.
