rap's reigning king of hip-hop
There is absolutely no one who raps like T-Bone. Nobody. He's got speed, lyrical agility, and sweet intonation. This best-of is a must for all fans of rap and hip-hop. With T-Bone and Toby Mac, Christianity has hip-hop covered. While Mac might have more genre variety, T-Bone embodies what true hip-hop was meant to be. He's not only got the beats nailed, but his lyrics are the poetry of the streets. He's got lots to say and no one says it like him. While Toby Mac entwines rock with his beats, T-Bone combines both soul and R&B with his. Simply put, Mac sounds more white and T-Bone more black (though he's hispanic). T-Bone tackles the tough issues with lyrical integrity. He is knowledgeable and profound, making ample suggestions as to options for those living on the street. He is ... He is bold, but yet his care for those under-privileged is obvious. If you are a hip-hop fan, then you probably already have many of the cd's featured here. If not, this best-of provides a nice starter. The only criticisms of what's offered here is the impromptu ditties that are more pertinent for single cd's than best-of's. Horse-racing and Name-droppin are two examples that this cd could have done without. While such additions provide colourful humour, they serve less purpose being on a best-of than elsewhere. There are also a couple of worship focused songs, one redone in Spanish, that might have limited appeal for non-Christians. However, there are many songs on this cd so there are many choices for the rap fan. The only other thing to be wary of in the future is T-Bone's self-confidence. While confident in his creative abilities (which is a good thing), with his newfound success in secular music and movies, he needs to be careful of impending arrogance. While always having been bold, his later songs may be leaning towards this edge, unfortunately (which is sadly typical in this genre).

I had heard T-Bone on another CD. He has done some great stuff. Had to have this Rap CD to show my friends there is good rap music, without the foul language and garbage that is in most.
