BOWIE AT HIS BEST
Verified purchase: No
The first time i heard this cd, I knew that there was something special, something weird (?) about it. The songs are a collection of the best material of glam rock David Bowie have written. Ziggy was a magnificent and significant album, but the style was consolidated here in this Aladdin Sane album. What a packaging! The cds come in a book-like presentation, with a very complete booklet of photographs and notes about all the songs, a chronology, and the photo that was inside de LP. The album art is incredible, and the paper is a good quality one. A real special edition I might say. The notes include all the information about the tour and the times when the songs were composed and played live. It was written by David Buckley, a famous biographer of Bowie. As you must know, this was written during the USA tour of Ziggy and The Spiders, and the songs have the names of cities in the USA. Here the apocalyptic sense of the songs and the feelings of chaos that are protagonist in Diamond Dogs, are present in a more glamorous way, like Panic in Detroit or Jean Genie, or Aladdin Sane (the song). The second disc was full of surprises. The sax version of John I'm Only Dancing, the live versions of Life on Mars? and Drive In Saturday (an acoustic one, special and rare!), an studio Bowie version of Mott The Hopple's All the Young Dudes (written by Bowie indeed)... Etc. You must have this cd, or at least hear these songs! I'm now expecting to purchase the similar versions of Ziggy and Diamond DogsRead full review
