    Anselmo goes hardcore.

    This for me is Mr. Anselmo at his best, Pantera and Down just can not compare to the Superjoint Ritual. If you were unaware of the guilty parties involved you wouldn't even class this as metal. What we have here is pure unadulterated hardcore punk, file alongside Black Flag, Wasted Youth etc. The songs are in the main short sharp bursts of pure musical aggression with Anselmo growling and screaming along for all he's worth. The riffs are heavy as a mofo and the songs grind along with no time for solos. There's the odd bit of ultra heavy sludge providing slow shade to counterpoint the fast light if you will. All in all a superb soundtrack to play when you're in the mood to wreak havoc and smash it all up.
