About this product

Product Information

The acclaimed bestseller that will change the way you make decisions In Thinking, Fast and Slow, Kahneman takes us on a groundbreaking tour of the mind and explains the two systems that drive the way we think and make choices. One system is fast, intuitive, and emotional; the other is slower, more deliberative, and more logical. Kahneman exposes the extraordinary capabilities - and also the faults and biases - of fast thinking, and reveals the pervasive influence of intuitive impressions on our thoughts and behaviour. The importance of properly framing risks, the effects of cognitive biases on how we view others, the dangers of prediction, the right ways to develop skills, the pros and cons of fear and optimism, the difference between our experience and memory of events, the real components of happiness-each of these can be understood only by knowing how the two systems work together to shape our judgments and decisions.

Exposing cognitive biases like no other

This book uncovers the typical human biases that surface when one is faced with making decisions under uncertainty. Although I personally found the book to be going into too much details in places, the general moral of the book is that our thought process is riddled with flaws and sometimes we really ought to stop and think hard about decision we make especially when those decisions are concerned future financial gains/loses. For me as a trader/speculator in foreign exchange this book was an eye opener and has provided useful guide to decision making process in live markets.

  • Kahneman handed me the keys to the University of my mind.

I was told about this book by my University Professor (of Finance) and based on her description of the book, I bought it. It was the breath of fresh air and clarity I was looking for whilst doing my MBA. I knew I was in the hands of a genius by the end of page 1 and couldn't put it down at all. I am sure 'Thinking Fast and Slow' is not everyone's cup of tea as it makes you probe deep into who you are and how you have come to think the way that you do, and let's be honest, most of us would avoid doing this given the choice. I am sure there is nothing like this on the shelves and is not to be confused with a self-help book that merely motivates you without education. This book will explain how it is possible that our brains and the decisions we make automatically every second of the day ...

Book was purchased as a gift. My daughter had it on her wish list for Christmas. I know nothing about the book, sorry.
