great seller and delivery but the book was unreadable ski-fi pulp fiction to me . i researched George's other books and cannot wait for Wigan's Pier to arrive . it is a factual account of life in the era of my parents and grandparents......and I was born very close to that town , so it will give me a very close look at life in such poverty and poor living conditions as they endured but did not tell me about. I am just not a fictional reader . I create my own fantasy world as a creative artist.

Orwell's 1984 reflects the problems of a modern world where the government has too much power, sensors information, and revises history. A classic.

Most of us would be familiar with the novel, Nineteen Eighty Four. Therefore, it's really a matter of what edition you buy. With so many different paperbacks on the market, you want a book that has clear print, easy to handle, and you can open wide to read. For these reasons I recommend this particular edition by Penguin because it is a quality paperback.

  • Very poignant.

I first saw the movie as a boy. It has stuck in my mind for over 5 decades. Even though it was written as afiction book in 1949, it was a snapshot of the future and is frightening to think of what the world is turning into at this time in history.I had searched for this for quite some time and finally now have it to re read.
