    Discover the Joy of Acrylic Painting

    I'll be honest; I haven't thoroughly read the book in its entirety yet, but I have skimmed the whole thing. At first glance, it does look like it would help a novice acrylic painter like myself. It appears organized, tells how to prepare your palette, what supplies you'll need, including brands, some various supports to use other than canvas, and gives some techniques to try. I guess, after having read one review, that I would have to characterize it as an advanced beginner book because it does presuppose some knowledge of painting. It is no step-by-step start-to-finish a painting type book. Hey, maybe I am more advanced than I thought because I am OK with that. I think I am going to enjoy this in conjunction with other acrylic books I own.

    As the title says, this book will spark your joy of acrylic painting.

    I bought this book because I thought I might paint the picture on the front cover - also, because I enjoy learning the painting methods from different painters. This book has a lot of step-by-step instructions that are very helpful in learning the painting techniques shown. Near the front of the book, there are some great instructions on painting flowers that made me want to jump right in and try my hand at it. Being from Long Island, the author has included quite a bit of instructions for painting water, sand, boats, and other beach items. She has a section called, "Fun & Easy Techniques for Cheerful Scenes" that can't help but peak your interest. Lots of step-by-step instruction on painting clouds, different types of water, fog,sand and more. I would recommend this book to just about ...

    The book was very basic, good for beginners. It had a few good examples of trees, and landscapes, discussed still life..and how to use the paints for shading and highlighting. I would recommend it.
