  • Murder solved...brilliantly.

If I could give a movie 5 and 1/2 stars, this would have to be the one. Previous reviews give you a good glimpse into the content, so I will avoid recounting the story. Each actor performed their role brilliantly. This movie is a must-see, over and over again. Just hope and pray that in real life, murders get solved when someone works tirelessly at it. Ignore the racial remarks throughout. It just adds more flavor to an interesting story. (Notice that sex and violence are subdued...not needed)

  • Fast-paced, exhilerating ...

Brilliant performance of a southern sheriff by Rod Steiger. A very raw and gritty story about a black police detective from the north, Virgil Tibbs, who gets stuck in a southern town helping to find a killer. Poitier, of course, was brilliant. The sheriff and Virgil Tibbs develop an interesting relationship. Many have called this town and the sheriff racist - but hope shone through in the way things end at the very end.

  • VHS tape

I need to replace it, because my old tape were wore out.My only complaint is that the other VHS I've owned have white spots in the tape.
