DEVO still has it! And more!

Great CD from a great, long-time band. After all of these years, one thing that hasn't changed is DEVO's talent, they still make great music. My favorite song on this CD is "What We Do", but all of them are worth listening to. Would recommend to old fans and new ones.

  • Something That Should Be For Everyone

This album carries the same banner of philosophy of de-evolution as their previous releases unlike other bands who change their sound to something that is not a reflection of the music that made them popular. This album seems to pick up from their 1984 release, "Shout'. It also features all of the original members minus their drummer. The opening track, 'Fresh', was almost the name of the CD. This track lays down the musical foundation of the CD as it progresses. The electronica ala Kraftwerk sound with their sense of humor are still as fresh today as it was in 1984. The only issue is that the world of commercial radio is not programmed for this style of music programming. This lack of exposure as well as the promotional video is beyond any serious airplay in today's one-dimensional world ...

  • Stick with the formula that works and it works!

As sort of a comeback album, this one is pretty good. It sticks to the normal (if you can call them that) Devo formula although No Place Like Home starts off really slow and was surprising for me because I am not used to hearing them sing songs in ballady type way. The majority of the songs are upbeat, and I would have given it 4 and a half stars if I could. I didn't care much for Later Is Now, March On, and Fresh which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. Long time Devo fans should be please though!! I would recommend it highly!!

  • I like it good enough to review it.

This album is a polished, well-produced dose of typical Devo. With catchy, new wave pop, the band has given us a simple, yet essential recording. My personal favorites are: WHAT WE DO, DON'T SHOOT (I'M A MAN), HUMAN ROCKET, and the repetitive MIND GAMES. Also of note is NO PLACE LIKE HOME, which is kind of a new wave ballad and quite beautiful. One I don't care for much is CAMEO, but all in all the album is Good to Excellent.

  • Are they not Devo? YES THEY ARE!

I have to admit that I was a little hesitant about buying this c.d., but was very pleasantly suprised. If you liked the old Devo of yore, then you will still love Devo now. A lot of upbeat poppy tunes with that same Devo slant to it all. If I didn't know better I would have thought this was an older adventure and not the new stuff that it is. All I can say is I was very happy I decided to buy this c.d. and think you would feel the same. A+ in my book.
