  • I Had High Hopes...

I wanted very much to like this CD. Nick Gravenitis was a friend of Janis Joplin; his ex-wife was Janis Joplin's roommate. I've read a lot about him, and he's still kicking. However, I did not like Nick Gravenitis singing/performing or his musical style. I cannot recommend this CD. There's nothing entertaining or outstanding about it. I spent over $20 on this thing, and I ended up selling it to Half Price Books for a buck. So sad.

  • Nick Gravenites Mike Bloomfield - My Labours

With The Electric Flag being one of the best live blues outfits of all time, this album will not disappoint any fan of real electric blues. Nick Gravenites is one of the most underrated vocalists, and songwriters, it is clear by listening to this that he has a defined talent and passion for Chicago blues. Accompanied by Mike Bloomfield, this live album sets the bar for hard to the core blues rock, there are a couple studio takes. All tracks are written by Gravenites except one cover of Otis Rush's "It Takes Time". I haven’t stopped listening to this album since I picked it up, I suggest you do to!
