This is a classic book showing the first color photographs ever made in Russia at the beginning of the 1900s by Sergei Prokudin-Gorskii. The Nicholas II enjoyed photography as a hobby and he commissioned the photographer to travel around Russia to photograph everyday life in the Russian Empire. This book is truly a snapshot in time and it is in color! The quality of the printing in this book by Allshouse is top notch and clearly shows the genius of Prokudin-Gorskii. You might want to do a google search to find out how this entire collection was purchased for the Library of Congress which allows you to access hundreds of his images on line. This is a "must" book for anyone interested in the history of Mother Russia. I took a copy to Saint Petersburg and my friends were amazed about ...
