new iPod with solid state drive
I have had iPods for approximately 10 years and very pleased. This is first one with solid state drive. I like this feature however not recommended ever to drop or handle roughly. SSD seems somewhat faster than HDD when searching for songs or albums. I like the fact this is a new iPod although slightly less storage than most of my other iPods of 160 GB. I do have about 19,000 songs on all my iPods. Battery life seems a bit longer than other iPods however I keep mine charged religiously. Price was good at approximately 200 usd for a new iPod with SSD. Delivery prompt considering coming all the way form China. A one time great product.
My Ipod was brand new upon delivery. A few weeks after purchase, the track wheel would not scroll, and finally it would not sync. I took it to two genius bars, and I was told that even though the product was new, the hardware was failing. Because the item was just sitting, hardware failure was not precluded. This was unfortunate because this meant that me and the Ipod Classic were no longer meant to be together. I broke down and purchased the Ipod touch.My Ipod was brand new upon delivery. My overall review of this product is thst I LOVE IT! I had to reset it back to factory settings due to it saying the iPod had no storage left but that didn't matter. I was planning on resetting it. It holds all my songs and has so much more room on it. I had an iPod touch before this iPod and I must say I prefer this one greatly over the iPod touch. If you are looking for a music player and not something that connects to the internet, I HIGHLY recommend an iPod classic. Unit works well but headphone jack defective
I bought this used iPod for a road trip in Australia so I could have tunes on the long drive. Luckily for me my rental van had a USB input on the radio because when I tried to use the headphone jack with my earbuds I only get sound from on one side. It seems the jack connections inside the unit are broken so they don't make correct contact with the auxiliary cable or headphone cord. This means I won't be able to use this iPod with headphones or in cars that demand use of an auxiliary cable. This is disappointing but it's not totally unusable because of the USB works ok. Wasn't sure this was even going to work. My iTunes didn't recognize it at first. I had to go through a recovery and configuration routine before it even showed up in iTunes. Once I was able to load music onto it, it would only hold 146 GB with 2.1 GB free before it was full, in spite of its 160 GB designation. And, it doesn't hold as much music as my older 160 GB iPod even though that one says it's only used 139 GB. But, it is what it is.
