Far Out Sci Fi
This is one unique film! The story line is totally out-of-the-box. I'd highly recommend it for that reason. The actors are, for the most part, first rate, and I loved the dog; not to mention, the ending!

A Boy and his dog, I watched originally several times on a Beta Max around 35+ years ago. This movie is difficult to watch at one sitting, but it has some remarkable attributes which make this movie original and I believe ripe for a re make. The quality of the DVD recording is on a scale 7 out of 10. Not a chick flick but entertaining and it is difficult to predict with any certainty what will happen next.. Dan Goebel Tequesta Fl. A Boy And His Dog - a mixed bag of doggie biscuits. -Buy me popcorn Albert!
For those familiar with Harlan Ellison's Nebula Award-winning novella "A Boy And His Dog", this DVD movie is a bitter-sweet mixture. The sweetness? -A very young and talented Don Johnson, his comical dog guardian and mentor, Ellison's edgy dialogue and post-apocalyptic brutal action, and a very well-portrayed retelling of the original story during the first half, and at the end. The bitterness? -The bizarre treatment of the action whilst in the Topeka Downunder. Much of what takes place in the Downunder however, while it's in the surreal spirit of the original storyline, it takes some weird broad departures from the original sequence of events. And I feel that hurts the overall film. I sincerely feel sticking with the original text and not taking the bizarre artistic license that was taken ... In its own right, it is a treasure. -Like a 5-carat ruby with near-perfect color and clarity -with a spot in the middle of it. Too good to dismiss or ignore. So come on, Albert, buy me some popcorn! You promised me popcorn.

An hour and a half of my life I'll never have back.
I heard the hype and talk about how this movie was a "cult classic" and as I tend to like the odd and unusual, I thought I'd give it a try. Well, it's even a bit to far out there for my unusual tastes. It's boring, has poor character developement and a very weak story line. I can see where several "cult classics" may become considerably more appealing depending on the type and kind of mind altering substances the viewer is under the influence of while watching them but there's not enough or a large enough variety of mind altering substances out there to make this movie enjoyable. The sad part is that with just a little more effort and a few minor tweeks, it could have actually been a good movie. It would be a great movie for someone to remake and ... I'd recommend borrowing it if possible as money lost from a hole in your pocket is better used than on this movie.

this movie was neither good, nor bad, i seen it on tv years ago, they had taken all the xrated scenes out, this dvd put them all back in, i felt like i was watching porno, and could not finish watching it. i will keep it, but will not ever watch it intirely. i really like the version with the xrated parts out.
