    Maybe the the most important book to read and keep in your bookcase. Give it to those you care about as a gift. Astounding how common this is.

    Truly fantastic book! Extremely well researched with credible author revealing frightening statistics about this unbelievably common diagnosis. Have bought this book for others as it is so pertinent to people they know. Learn to recognize a sociopath and save yourself a lifetime of grief! I guarantee you you will know one and not realize it. My husband read my book before I got to it and he was completely enthralled and raved about it as a 'must read!' This author goes into a tremendous amount of detail and research plus a lifetime of experience dealing with sociopaths. Had I know this book was out there, I would've read it decades ago and my life would've gone a lot better. We were conned by a family member out of about 800k in retirement money leaving us almost wiped out, and ...

    A little disappointing.

    I was hoping for more ideas on how to deal with a sociopath. Avoidance is sometimes not practical. The author goes off on tangents about obedience to authority and dictators and such. I would have preferred more useful information. There are some interesting case studies, but I honestly felt like the woodchuck lady, who was not at all charming and did not seem to lie did not fit the profile and was perhaps suffering from attachment disorder as the author herself described earlier in the book.

    Perfect Title

    This book is fascinating and validates many experiences that I have had with what I call preditors. Interestingly the Author Martha Stout, ph.d. calls these types of individuals preditors too. I have noticed as she stated in her book, that these types of people seem to be almost the social norm in certain demographic groups such as the United States. I wondered why that is for some time and this book has a good explanation as to why. There is cultural references to the condition of sociopathy in this book. There literally are people without conscious. It is hard to believe but so very true.     I discovered by accident that the woman of my dreams, the one whom I married twice and divorced twice is a stone-cold sociopath. My two divorces cost me a small fortune but now I have a chance at redemption in a new life! The main difference between those who love and those who are incapable of love is a heart.
