    buy this!!

    I first heard Kate sing on a radio folk show and interview. Her voice is just beautiful. She sings with the same strong Yorkshire accent as she speaks with and it adds to the performance brilliantly. This dvd is superb with interviews and performances in the studio as well as the Leeds show. If you like to hear a gorgeous voice and good songs that actually mean something, I can't recommend this dvd enough. Even if you're not really a folk fan (as I wasn't) I think you'll find something you'll enjoy. For perfect christmas music try her cd Sweet Bells, it's the perfect antidote to the usual fare. Also her version of The Kinks Village Green Preservation Society makes it sound a very contemporary song though it was written today instead of 1968.

    Kate entertains & the band plays on

    I have seen Kate Rusby on several occasions and saw the gig at Leeds the night after this was filmed. So for me this was a memory not only of a great gig, but a chance to have a recording of a superb band, which since John McCusker and Kate's marriage has ended will not be seen touring again. Kate may sing sad songs but the links are very funny. The interaction with the band is great but best of all Kate talks to us, the audience. She tells us about the songs (sort of) and she engages with the audience in a way some stars just do not do. See Kate in concert and you will not be disappointed. Second best is this CD, a lovely recording with some nice extras of sessions. But get your own copy - this treasure is staying in my collection for repeated enjoyment.
