About this product

Product Information

From the master of Southern Gothic, Carson McCullers's coming-of-age story like no other about a young girl's fascination with her brother's wedding. Twelve-year-old Frankie is utterly, hopelessly bored with life until she hears about her older brother's wedding. Bolstered by lively conversations with her family maid, Berenice, and her six-year-old cousin -- not to mention her own unbridled imagination -- Frankie takes on an overly active role in the wedding, hoping even to go, uninvited, on the honeymoon, so deep is her desire to be a member of something larger, more accepting than herself.

I was checking out audiobooks by Tara Moss on eBay & this one was at the best price. I thought I hadn't heard it, so I bought. Very quick processing by Seller, arrived on time, packaged well, sealed, new, BUT I found I already had it, but hadn't listened to it. It was my fault, considered returning it, & it was made easy thru' eBay & I was able to return it to seller. A seller with great items who was very accommodating, thank you for understanding.

  • Highly recommended book

McCullers has an insight into person psychology that allows her to create great characters that everyone can relate to. This is my third time reading this book. It is a great piece of work, and beautifully written. It is a superb memoir, and the author's style is impressive. The characters are as rich as any who have ever been imagined, and the story is just breathtaking. Highly recommended.

  • Book had an immense amount ofwriting and highlighting in it.

Poor condition. There wasn't a page untouched with writing and marks.

  • The Heart is a Lonely Hunter

This novel, written in the 1940's, discusses the trivial pursuit of desire. Also a commentary on the futility of religion, the plot follows five main characters and their struggles in failing to achieve their life's goals and dreams. Although a well-written classic, I found the book a depressing read and one which espouses views I disagree with. The format of several protagonists as opposed to one central character, is very intriguing and this fresh writing style I found interesting.
