Product Information

See the wonder of science come alive in this fascinating guide to life's greatest questions. What are things made of? What is the sun? Is there really life on other planets? Why do bad things happen? Throughout history, people have invented fascinating stories to explain the world we live in. Have you heard the tale of how the sun hatched out of an emu's egg? Or what about the great catfish that carries the world on its back? Has anyone ever told you that earthquakes are caused by a sneezing giant? These fantastical myths are fun - but what are the real answers to such questions? Professor Richard Dawkins has teamed up with renowned illustrator Dave McKean to take you on an amazing journey from atoms to animals, pollination to paranoia, the big bang to the bigger picture. See the wonder of science come alive in this beautifully illustrated guide to the greatest questions on earth - and some of the answers to them.

I was checking out audiobooks by Tara Moss on eBay & this one was at the best price. I thought I hadn't heard it, so I bought. Very quick processing by Seller, arrived on time, packaged well, sealed, new, BUT I found I already had it, but hadn't listened to it. It was my fault, considered returning it, & it was made easy thru' eBay & I was able to return it to seller. A seller with great items who was very accommodating, thank you for understanding.

I love the no nonsense way that Dawkins explains the wonders of our universe. In this book he describes various myths surrounding some important questions (where did we come from? what causes earthquakes? etc) then gives the correct explanation. This edition has some wonderful illustrations, including a gallery of our ancestors going back to the aquatic ones! A good read for anyone interested in the science of our reality, but it is intended for young teenage readers so informed adults may be familiar with some content. I aim to use some of this material for teaching primary school children, but every home deserves a copy. CONTENTS: 1 What is reality? What is magic? 2 Who was the first person? 3 Why are there so many different kinds of animals? 4 What are things made of? 5 Why do we ...
